DREAM ON!
Mid-century modernism is the
prevailing architectural style
of this home with its open plan,
deep eaves and emphasis on the
horizontal. The materials used
range from natural sandstone,
recycled brick, zinc and concrete
to an American oak floor.
Built over six levels, the home
terraces its way down a steep
west-facing site linked by three
internal lifts. Other eye-watering
statistics include an underground
20-car garage entered via a tunnel,
eight living areas serving seven
bedrooms, and two separate
guest pavilions. Amazing!

Check out the
balance between
architecture on
a grand scale
and gardens that
would do Babylon
proud

White marble
caps the dark
joinery in the
open-plan
sitting area.

The entertaining level features
a commercial bar, sunken
lounge, jacuzzi and two-lane
competition bowling alley.

Note how the dark ‘roasted’ American
oak floor helps ground the light-filled
interiors. The contrast just works!
