1 Clothes you haven’t
worn in years. Even ‘new
with tags’ clothes you
thought you’d wear. Do
you really need 17 black
tops or 47 old bras that
don’t fit? Pack them off
with love to a new home.
(Not the bras. Ew!)
2 Old shoes. Who are you
kidding? You’re never
wearing those stilettos
again. Ditto old thongs,
trainers and tap shoes.
Keep wedding heels
for memory’s sake.
3 Wire coat hangers
from the dry cleaners.
Because they’re awful.
4 Socks without
partners. Undies with
no elastic. Earrings
without a twin.
5 Make-up you’ve had
under your sink since

  1. Ditto old nail
    polish, shampoos, and
    the stinky body creams
    Aunt Sally gave you.
    6 Toys your kids have
    not touched in years.
    7 Expired medicines
    and supplements.
    8 Herbs, spices, tin cans
    past their use-by date.
    9 Plastic food storage
    containers with lost lids.
    10 Pens without ink,
    keys to locks unknown,
    chargers to ancient
    electronics and
    random batteries.

  • Keep it simple. Choose a single colour
for all of your linens and towels. White,
for example, is crisp and clean and
    creates that uncluttered, minimalist feel.

  • Inbox me. Designate a central ‘inbox’
where all mail, flyers and other assorted
papers land to minimise the amount
of paper laying around the house.

  • Think twice before buying the latest
kitchen whatsit. Do you really need it?
Do you have space for it? Will it help or
hinder your quest for a clutter-free life?
