- Talk to your family
Whether you’ve just transitioned or still in
the process to becoming a vegan, speak to
your family about your decision. Having this
discussion will not only make them more
empathetic but will also give them time to find
ways to make the Christmas celebrations more
vegan-friendly.
- Send out a wish list
We hate to admit it but what would Christmas
be without gifts under the tree. To make it easier
for your friends and family, send out a friendly
email with your wish list, which has links to
online stores that have vegan products. Make
it a tradition by asking them to send their wish
list back to you, this is a great hassle-free and
worry-free gifting idea that gets the whole family
involved. It’s also an innocuous way to introduce
people to cruelty-free products.
- Make yummy V-eggnog
Traditionally, rum infused eggnog is served to
guests after the Christmas meal. This warm
spiced drink is a hit at any Christmas party
whether with alcohol or not, and luckily for us,
a similar vegan version can be whipped up (a
fabulous recipe is provided in this magazine
issue)
- Make a Vegan Main course
It’s all about sitting around a table filled with
yummy food during Christmas, and that usually
means some sort of roast or curry, which you
won’t be able to eat unless it’s vegan. So do your
research, there are brilliant recipes online from
pumpkin soup, vegan butter chicken (check it
out on veganfirst.com) to even vegan Christmas
cake. A week or so before Christmas, go get the
ingredients and try them out till you get it just
right. On Christmas night, surprise your family
with your creation, we bet they’ll love it!
- Dress to Impress
Just because you’re vegan doesn’t mean you
can’t be dressed to the nines in some dapper
and stylish clothing. In fact, if you look closely
at the tags on clothing, you’ll see that most
outfits tend to be accidentally vegan. High street
brands prefer using the cheaper leather/wool/
silk alternatives which suit us just fine! If you’re
on a budget, you’ll be amazed at the accidentally
cruelty-free fashion and discounts available
online. You’ll have all the girls and guys checking
you out at the Christmas dance.
