A

nand Siva, Mumbai: I turned vegan 7 years ago,
and it was only after 2 years that it dawned on
me that some additional benefi ts had accrued,
wholly unintentional and unexpected. Since then, I’ve
been a passionate advocate of veganism. First was a
permanent goodbye to my migraines. My attacks used
to be severe: two days of struggle, immense suff ering,
vomiting bouts where I wrenched my guts out and an
immensely slow recovery period. I suddenly realised
that the last migraine attack I had was a month before I
became vegan. I’ve not had not once since!

The second was something we all hear so very
frequently: viral fever. I have not had a single bout of
fever, not even an explained or diagnosable one. I’ve
never had to lie down, skip work, look sick or suff er from
unexplained body disorder. I then realised my body
was helping itself stay healthy, healed and receptive to
my newfound dietary habit.

Had I known of the possibility of a plant based diet to
have this eff ect on my migraines, I’d have gone vegan
decades ago - all the suff ering, vomiting, tablets,
experiments, changes to travel plans and cancelling
business meetings would have all been history. Ever
since I experienced these changes, I have been helping
people not only overcome migraine and nagging
fevers, but also complex diseases like diabetes and
osteoporosis! Now I live in the joy of knowing that I
have done my body a good turn, it will never have to
suff er for my foolish indulgences.
