CONTRIBUTORS
Six highfliers who helped create this issue

  • NICK JAQUEZ
    Nick authored this month’s
    Wrench Room on page 84,
    a touching profile of father/
    daughter bike builders George
    and Sofi Tsingos, who produce
    one-of-a-kind machines from
    their home garage in Texas.
A bit of a wrench monkey
    himself, the New Mexico native
    helped create the “Black
    Hills Beast,” an Indian Scout-
    based hill climber unveiled
    at the 75th annual Sturgis
    Motorcycle Rally.

  • AARON FRANK
For many years as a full-time
    Motorcyclist staffer, Aaron
has done just about all there
is to do on two wheels, yet he
    remains game for even more.
    For this issue, Aaron penned
the overview of the new Star
    Venture found on page 48.
    Favorite pastimes include—
    you guessed it—anything on
two (or even three) wheels, the
    quirkier the better.

  • CARMEN GENTILE
    Carmen began his journalism
career in the late 1990s, and
    his writing has since been
    published in The New York
    Times, TIME, Newsweek,
    and USA Today. In 2010,
    Carmen was wounded by a
    rocket-propelled grenade
    while reporting in eastern
    Afghanistan. His first book,
Kissed by the Taliban, will be
    published in March. “Escape
    from Mosul” begins on
    page 72.

  • SCOT HARDEN
Scot is an off-road icon, a
    champion racer, and motor-
    cycle-industry executive
    who has served the power-
    sports industry through
    four decades of work with
    Husqvarna, KTM, BMW, and
    Zero Motorcycles. Inducted
    to the AMA Motorcycle Hall
    of Fame in 2008, Harden
    is also the president and
    founder of Harden Offroad.
    The Nevada native wrote this
    month’s Megaphone on page

  • NISH NALBANDIAN
    The first images award-
    winning photographer Nish
    sold detailed a motorcycle
trip he took from Denver to
    the tip of South America.
    Published last year, Nish’s first
    book, A Whole World Blind,
    documents the Syrian civil
war. “It’s hard to look at things
like this,” he admits. “And it
    should be.” Nish produced the
    photographs that accompany
    Carmen Gentile’s Iraq feature.

  • MICHAEL SHAFFER
    Michael is usually photo-
    graphing all things four-
    wheeled, having started his
    professional photography
career shooting for the likes of
    Motor Trend and Automobile
    magazines. He currently
    travels the world for clients
    such as Subaru, Mercedes-
    Benz, and Ferrari, among
    others. We convinced the
    DC-based photographer to
    add two-wheel subjects to his
    repertoire, as he shot the
    electric Alta military bike for
    Insight on page 46.
