JUSTIN HALE

Born and raised in West Virginia, Justin

Hale grew up riding in the woods thanks

to his uncle. When it was time to go to col-

lege, he packed up and headed to Arizona

State University, where he’s pursuing a

bachelor’s degree in marketing and taking

photography courses. The woods riding

soon turned into desert riding, and along

with racing various off-road events, Justin

also tries to get out and ride the California

dunes and Mexican beaches whenever

possible. Say hi to him all summer long

while he’s manning the Racer X booth at

each round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.

JEFF KOCAN

Senior Editor Jeff Kocan signed on as a

part-time proofreader in the early days of

Racer X—he fi rst worked on issue number

three—in 1999 while fi nishing his journal-

ism degree at West Virginia University.

Now the magazine’s style guru, he’s the

one who makes sure all of our verbs are in

agreement and our Oxford commas are in

place. His hobbies include buying books

and not reading them, making plans to do

more writing soon, and telling people he’s

really into woodworking these days.

A Pittsburgh native, he and his wife and

son live in Brooklyn, New York.
