eliveries decreased in September 2017 with 53
brand-new buses delivered throughout
Australia. This pales in comparison to August,
during which 110 new bus deliveries were
reported by manufacturers, representing a
decrease of 57 vehicles. The September delivery number
stacks up poorly when compared to the 88 new buses
delivered at the same time last year.
Scania had an average month, its deliveries decreasing from
36 in August to 20 in September. Volvo followed with 18,
which was well down on last month’s 40. Higer
and King Long had a strong month, reporting
four deliveries each. Most other manufacturers
delivered less than three vehicles respectively.
The body builders posted fairly low-key results
overall, with Volgren leading the pack on 21,
that ¾ gure being well down on the 47 reported in
August. Bustech had a strong results with seven,
up from¾ve the month before. The majority of other builders
delivered less than ¾ ve vehicles respectively.
For air-conditioning suppliers, Thermo King led the way
with 28 deliveries nationwide, a sharp drop on the huge 68 a
month earlier, but still leading the market by a considerable
margin. Spheros was involved in the delivery of seven units,
while Hispacold and Konvekta posted ¾ ve each.
Queensland led the states on 30 per cent, followed by
Victoria (26 per cent), New South Wales (25 per cent),
Western Australia (17 per cent), and SA with 2 per cent.
