of Adelaide’s
O-Bahn tunnel

Consultation has been
undertaken with passengers
with accessibility needs and city
businesses and residents will
receive further information ahead
of the changes. The project is
expected to be completed by the
end of this year.
In related news, expressions
of interest have now been taken
for more than $200 million of
South Australian public transport
projects including the $174.
million Oaklands Crossing
upgrade. These projects include
the $15 million upgrade of
existing park and ride facilities,
which will create an extra 300
car parks at the Tea Tree Plaza
O-Bahn interchange and another
200 at Klemzig, as announced in
June’s State Budget.
Both facilities will be fully
compliant with disability-access
standards, and will have full
digital CCTV coverage and
dedicated lighting and pathways

to the platforms. Removing
the level crossing will reduce
congestion for vehicle traffi c
held up by the boom gates,
which are lowered for
approximately a quarter of the
time during peak periods.
“Removing the Oaklands
Park level crossing will reduce
delays for the 42,000 vehicles
which travel through this level
crossing each weekday while
also improving train services
for the 15,000 passengers who
use the Seaford line each day,”
Mullighan says.
The project will also involve
improvements to the bus and
train interchange, as well as better
access to the Marion precinct.
The new car park spaces
will be in addition to the 700
already located near Tea Tree
Plaza Interchange and the
230 at Klemzig Interchange.
Construction of the park and ride
upgrades is set to start in 2018.
