and as we are baking with boozy fruits and spices, it’s
beginning to smell a lot like Christmas too!
Nothing welcomes the family home like the heady spices of
yuletide baking and if you are yet to appreciate the richness
of festive fruit cake, fear not, as this month we have a truly
indulgent Christmas carrot cake for you to try instead!
This delicious recipe is a tried and tested favourite of
Charlotte White and as well as giving you her recipe she
will show you in simple stages, how to decorate your cake
with classic vintage style - you’ll love her sugar candy canes
and poinsettias, just watch and decorate along with your
FREE DVD (a little present from us)!

Charlotte also gives us a beginners lesson in royal icing
so get your piping bag ready and subscribe this month to
receive a Jem 55 Piece Nozzle Set worth over £40! Find
all the nozzles and tools you require to create everything
from simple stars to splendid buttercream fl owers and
Charlotte’s caged pearls, all organised for you in this
useful nozzle case. To get piping, turn to page 10.

Having a good kit makes achieving great results a lot easier, along with
our series on airbrushing from Shesto, we have an unbeatable reader offer
for you to treat yourself or a cake mad friend to a great airbrush - turn to
pages 26 and 65 for details. I can’t wait to see your own versions of this
month’s cakes, please do send them in to us to feature in Slice of Social
and our new online blog. We want to see your wedding and party cakes
too as well as answer any cake decorating and cake business questions
you may have. I’m so excited as this issue is packed with gorgeous
seasonal makes, nordic chic patterns and colours, fun and novel Santa
characters, traditional gingerbread and even a Bethlehem inspired cake
from the queen of colours, Lindy Smith!

Enjoy choosing the showstopper for your family celebrations,
all of the tutorials are guaranteed to increase Christmas
spirit and add a little magic to the festivities if you follow the
step-by-steps, take your time and pay heed to our cake artists advice.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a very happy new year,
