Volkswagen has agreed on a $US15 billion
($A20bn) settlement to compensate owners
of cars in the US affected by the Dieselgate
emmissions scandal. Owners will either
have their cars bought back by VW, or be
compensated between $US5500 and $US9000.
Volkswagen Australia responded by releasing
a statement pointing out the legal difference
between the US and here. Owners of some
Australian vehicles affected by the scandal have
been issued with a voluntary recall to update
the software of their cars.
