Subaru’s iconic sports sub-brand faltered
May, falling to just 35 sales, down 87.5% f
month. No cause for alarm; it’s just low on
aheadofamodelrefreshthat’sduesoon.

HIGHLIGHTSMay was a good month, with combined sales for the first five months
ofthe year at 469,571, up 3.6% over the same period last year. The boom in
mid-size SUVs, up 19.6% for the month, was outdone only by people-movers, up a
staggering 27.8%. Sports car sales hit top speed, finding 2139 buyers in May to sit
18.8% ahead of last year. In the battle of the brands, Mazda reclaimed second spot
ahead of Hyundai, and Holden nudged back in front of Ford.

LOWLIGHTSAussie manufacturing’s delcline was highlighted again with a 6.9%
fallfor the month to put us 14.7% down on the same five months last year. Ford,
with 1425 local sales, and Holden with 3471, are sharing the pain. Conventional
passenger cars continue to lose ground as buyers stick to the middle ground, with
the likes of the Fiat 500, Ford Fiesta, Mitsubishi Mirage, Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen
struggling in the showroom.

Skoda Fabia Monte CarloSkoda Fabia Monte Carlo
Slated for release in October, Skoda’s Fabia
Monte Carlo should build on the success of its
predecessor. The previous version of the Monte
Carlo made up two in every five sales for Fabia.
However, it was previously only available on
the hatchback; this time around Skoda will also
add a wagon version.

BANNED! Bentley hits a Speed hump
Bentley has been forced to remove a film from
its international YouTube channel that showed
Bathurst 1000 winner John Bowe taking
a Continental GT Speed to its top speed of
330km/h on a closed section of the unrestricted
Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. The

Advertising Standards Bureau in Australia
determined the film was in breach of the
advertising code, and ruled it be removed despite
the film explicitly stating the run was conducted
on a closed road with a professional driver. For
