Three colour stripe sequence
Contrast colour 1 – 8 rows
Contrast colour 2 – 8 rows
Main colour – 8 rows
When knitting a vest on circ needles,
knit up to armholes, then continue on
straight needles.
With Mc and 4.00mm circ needle
(60cm) cast on 120 (124, 128, 132,
136, 140) sts. Close the loop to start
knitting in the round, which means that
beg and end of row is where first and
last sts meet. Make sure that all sts are
hanging down in the same direction,
so edge is not twisted.
Next Rounds: Work 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6)
cm single rib.
Change to stocking st, and work
stripes as per colour sequence above.
(Please Note – Stocking st is only K
sts on circ needle).
When work measures 19 (22, 24,
27, 29, 32) cm, diving for armhole
into one FRONT and one BACK piece,
which will be knitted separately.BACK
Work first 60 (62, 64, 66, 68, 70) sts
from circ needle onto 4.00mm knitting
needles. Work stocking st (Please Note- St.st on straight needles is worked
1K row, 1P row alt) continue with
stripes.
In beg of first 6 rows dec for armhole
6sts = 2 rows, 2sts = 2 rows, 1sts =
2 rows ((6, 2, 1) (7, 2, 1) (7, 2, 1)
(8, 2, 1) (8, 2, 1)) sts. 42 (44, 44,
46, 46, 48) sts left on needle.
When armhole measures 11 (11, 12,
12, 13, 13) cm cast off for neck as
foll, starting from beg of row: Knit 10
(10, 10, 11, 11, 11) Cast off 22 (24,
24, 24, 24, 26) sts, Knit 10 (10, 10,
11, 11, 11)
Work either side separately.LEFT SIDE
Dec1, 1 st in from edge at neckline,
every other row twice. When armhole
measures 13 (13, 14, 14, 15, 15)
