Change to 4.00mm needles; work in
stocking st until work measures 37
cm, ending with a WS row.


Shape armholes
Cast off 9 sts at beginning of next 2
rows. (91 sts).
Decrease 1 st at each end of next 3
rows (85 sts),
Continue decreasing every 2nd row
until 75 sts remain.
Continue without shaping until work
measures 60 cm from beginning.


Shape shoulder
Cast off 7 sts at beginning of next 6
rows.
Cast off remaining sts.


LEFT FRONT
Using 3.50mm needles, cast on 55
sts.
Work 4 rows rib as for back.
Row 5: rib to last 4 sts. Cast off 2 sts
and turn. Rib to end
Row 6: rib 2 sts. Turn. Cast on 2 sts


and rib to end. (These 2 rows create a
buttonhole).
Work another 8 rows in rib (14 rows
in all).
Next Row: rib 6 sts. Leave these 6 sts
on stitch holder (this will be the front
band).
Change to 4.00mm needles.
Work in stocking st until work
measures the same length as Back to
the beginning of armholes, ending on
a WS row.

Shape armholes
Cast off 9 sts at beginning of next
row.
Purl 1 row
Next Row: dec. 1 st at armhole edge
on every row 3 times, then every
alternate row 4 times.
At the same time, decrease 1 st at front
edge every 4th row until 24 sts remain.

Shape shoulder
Cast off 8 sts at armhole edge of next
3 RS rows.

RIGHT FRONT
Work as for left front, reversing
shaping.

FRONT BANDS
Using 3.50mm needles and with the
6 sts remaining on stitch holder. Work
band in k1, p1 rib until band reaches
along the front to the centre back.
Cast off. Remember to create 5 further
buttonholes on left front band. Join
band to front.

MAKING UP
Join fronts to back at side seams and
shoulders.
For armholes, pick up 132 sts around
armhole, using 3.50mm needles.
Work in rib for 6 rows.
Cast off ribwise.
Darn in ends. Attach buttons to right
front.
