needles and M, starting and ending
at left front armhole edges, pick up
and knit 5 sts down left side of
front neck, K across 31 (37, 43, 49,
55) sts on front holder, pick up and
knit 5 sts up right side of front neck,
then K across 40 (44, 48, 52, 56)
sts on right sleeve holder, 45 (51,
57, 63, 69) sts on back holder, and
40 (44, 48, 52, 56) sts on
left sleeve holder, turn and cast on
5 sts 171 (191, 211, 231, 251)
sts
Working in garter st throughout,
continue as follows:-

MAKING UP
Join left front armhole seam, sew 5
cast-on sts at lower edge of yoke in
place to pick-up row on inside. Join
side and sleeve seams by top-sewing.
Attach buttons to correspond with
buttonholes.

STRIPED SWEATER
BACK
Using 3.25 mm needles and M, cast
on 59 (65, 71, 77, 83) sts.
Noting that first row is a WS row, work
in g st for 5 rows, finishing on a wrong
side row.
Change to 4.00mm needles.
Starting with a K row, now work in st
st throughout as follows:-
Join in C.
Using C, work 2 rows.
Using M, work 2 rows.
These 4 rows form striped st st.
Working in striped st st throughout,
complete as given for Back of Sweater
with Contrast Edging from **.

FRONT
Work as given for Front of Sweater
with Contrast Edging, remembering to
work in stripes as given for Back of
this sweater.

SLEEVES (BOTH ALIKE)
Using 3.25mm needles and M, cast on
30 (32, 34, 36, 38) sts.
Noting that first row is a wrong side
row, work in g st for 5 rows, finishing
on a WS row.
Change to 4.00mm needles.
Starting with a Knit row and 2 rows
using C, now work in striped st st
as given for Back throughout and
continue as follows:-
Inc 1 st at each end of next (next,
next, next, 3rd) and 10 (7, 4, 0, 13)
following alt (alt, alt, alt, 4th) rows,
then on 1 (5, 9, 14, 2) following 4th
(4th, 4th, 4th, 6th) rows. 54 (58, 62,
66, 70) sts
Continue straight until sleeve
measures approx 12 (15, 19, 23,
27) cm, finishing on same stripe
