U18 final against Oliver Gaston.
Looking to follow into the footsteps of
bowling stardom, he went away with a
21-7 win.
Father Tommy was in action too,
competing against Sun B.C. Legend
Malcolm De Sousa in the men’s set
singles.
Tommy held an 8-2 lead in the first set
from the rained off session earlier in the
month.
He picked up a three on the first end
which confirmed the first set win.
Malcolm came back in the second set
and picked up a narrow set win, 8-7.
Both showing they are the two best
male players in Jersey, the tie break was
tight and tense with Malcolm coming out
a 2-1 winner to claim the title.
The novice final saw David Black of St

Saviour B.C taking on Mark Duckett of
JBC. In a very good game David ran out
winner, 21-16.
In the men’s U25 final, Jarred Brown
from JBC was able to pick up his first
national title, defeating regular finalist
from Sun B.C. Ross Davis, 21-17.
In the mixed pairs final sponsored by
Jean Holmes, Cyril Renouf and Fiona
Archibold took on former winners of
the competition Tracey O’Connor and
Michael Rive. Although facing a deficit
from the rained off session, Cyril and
Fiona managed to win 19-13.
Jean Holmes was also in action in
the ladies senior singles against Sue
Noel. Jean found her form and added
a third title to her name with a 21-10
victory.
On to the afternoon and final session

of bowls for the season of featured the
men’s triples, ladies singles and men’s
singles finals.
Jean Holmes, looking to complete
a fantastic season, took on Tracey
O’Connor in the ladies singles final.
Tracey started off well, racing off to a
14-5 lead, but Jean kept her composure
and fought her way back in it.
After 17 gruelling ends, the game could
not have been closer but Jean was able
to get over the line first, defeating Tracey
21-19- a perfect way to finish her season.
In the men’s national singles final,
Malcolm De Sousa was up again against
fellow Sun B.C member Ross Davis.
Ross went into a quick 10-3 lead but
Malcolm showed he was not done yet,
bringing the game level at ten all.
There was really not much to separate
either player and it showed with the
quality level of bowls both were playing.
Malcolm, close to victory while leading
20-19, Ross showed great composure
from the natural talent he is.
Holding two shots, Malcolm’s final
bowl was marginally tight, giving Ross
the 21-20 win to be crowned men’s
national outdoor champion for the first
time.
The final game played was the men’s
national triples had the defending
champions from JBC, Kevin Le Long,
Chris Mulderig and Chris Andrews
up against the newly crowned men’s
national pairs champions Tommy
Greechan and Mike Videgrain teaming
up with St Brelade’s bowler Graeme
Thomas.
Tommy and Mike found their form
from the pairs win and along with Grame
able to take victory against the JBC team
as the rain again fell 18-11.
All players will now look to relax
during the winter whether it be playing
indoors, going to tournemants or taking
time off before the hard practicing
starts for next year's British Isles
Championships.
