and much more. Situated south of Lake
Garda, all three loops of nine are relatively
similar in their characteristics; the key is to
avoid the large bunkers and water hazards if
you’re to set up some birdie chances.
Probably the best holes, which all involve
water, are the 4th and 5th on the Solferino
loop and the 3rd and 4th on San Martino,
though the last hole on the Benaco is a good
test, the challenging short holes on the
Pozzolengo course providing the ideal
warm-up.
If you want to enjoy more of Lake Garda,
a stay in and around Salò is recommended
and there are plenty of hotels on the
promenade to choose from.
Other courses in and around this area
include 27-hole layouts at both Arzaga and
Garda – the former has the legendary names

of Nicklaus and Player as designers – while
rising European Tour star Matteo Manassero
has strong links with the latter.
Ca’degli Ulivi Golf Hotel is situated just off
the east side of the lake while Verona, Le
Vigne and Paradiso can all be found on the
way to Verona.
Off course, as you would expect, there’s
plenty to see and do in this very touristy part
of Italy. An organised boat trip and guided
tour of the Isola del Garda, the biggest island
on Lake Garda, provides a perfect
opportunity to take a closer look at scenery.
Also, a wine tasting session at Perla del
Garda, just to the south of Lake Garda, is
highly recommended.

Getting there
Flight time from the UK is about two hours

and there are flights into Verona and Milan
from various UK airports via the budget
airlines and British Airways from Gatwick to
Verona and Heathrow to Milan.

Best time to go
The weather around Lake Garda tends to be
mild during the winter and not too hot
during the summer – making it the ideal
destination for year-round golf.
