Titleist DT TruSoft ball £23 doz
Titleist say growing numbers of golfers
who choose lower-compression balls,
put distance on the line. So they’ve
reengineered their DT TruSoft to be
longer and softer with increased short
game spin. “Our R&D team discovered
how to provide even more distance
without impacting the remarkably soft
feel golfers love about this product,”
said Michael Mahoney, Vice President
of golf ball marketing at Titleist.

Mizuno stand bags From £100
Having the right bag to get your gear
around the golf course can drastically
increase your enjoyment of the game.
So Mizuno has come up with a brilliant
new range to cover off all bases. Our
favourites are the waterproof BR-DRI
(2kg/£250), the Frame Walker
(2kg/£270) – which Mizuno say offers
increased shaft protection – and the
ultra-versatile flip-stand BR-D2
(1.5kg/£100).

TaylorMade Red TP
Collection putters £239
Red putters have taken the tour by
storm this year, and to capitalise on the
trend TaylorMade have a launched the
new six-model TP Red Collection. All
six heads are mallet or MOI style
models, created from 304 stainless
steel and come with a Pure Roll firm
feel aluminium insert and SuperStroke
Pistol GTR grip. Want to know more?
We’ve tested them on page 83.

orged irons have come back in a big way in
2017.Part of the influx is down to brands
courting the best blade players in the game
(including Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods), who
became free equipment agents when Nike quit golf,
while others have arrived using new hollow body
forging tech, which is completely rewriting how
forgiving forged irons can be. TaylorMade and
Mizuno have already hit the headlines with their new
forged clubs, and now it’s Callaway’s turn. They have
revealed two sets of tour-inspired forged designs,
the Apex MB and X Forged, both of which have been
created with input from Callaway’s tour staff.

F

X Forged

Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed and
Branden Grace have all been fans of
the previous X Forged model, so you
know they’ve played a role in this new
design. Callaway says this style of
forged cavity is very popular with tour
players, as it offers a sprinkling of
forgiveness missing from the new
Apex Muscleback. Its sole sculpting,
progressive centre of gravity locations
and precision grooves have been set
up to optimise shot making, turf
interaction and accuracy. And the
super-clean and classic look at
address will appeal to many.
