Kitten to Cat 75
Social play also often continues into adulthood and is a normal behaviour
between cats of the same social group. But in adulthood there can be an increased
tendency for some play interactions to develop into actual antagonistic encounters
(Bradshaw, 1992). This may occur if arousal levels are too high or if there is already
an element of competition between the cats. Another common problem can be misin-
terpretation by owners of inter-cat behaviour so that play is incorrectly considered to
be aggression or aggression is incorrectly regarded as play.
