PRODUCT NEWS
W
ith Agritechnica firmly in its sights, AGCO’s Fendt brand
has launched some new machines and tweaked other
existing machines ahead of the big German machinery show
in November.
According to Peter-Josef Paffen, chairman of the AGCO/Fendt
executive board, Fendt had its most successful year ever in 2018
when it sold 16,806 tractors globally.
“Growth continues. We are currently planning sales of 18,
Fendt tractors in 2019. This brings us a big step closer to our
target of 20,000 tractors in 2020,” he says.
Fendt has taken the covers off its new 900 Vario series of
five models ranging from 296 horsepower to 415hp (221kW to
309kW). The new top model Fendt 942 Vario sees the 900-series
venture beyond 400hp (298kW) for the first time.
POWER UP
Fendt has designed the new MAN six cylinder engine with a
cubic capacity of nine litres and VTG turbocharger with variable
turbine geometry that powers the 900 series.
The change interval for the M3677 engine oil has gone up
to an unprecedented 1,000 hours. The Fendt VarioDrive
powertrain builds up together with the perfectly aligned
TA 300 Vario transmission.
The Fendt iD low speed concept, geared towards high power
reserves, is used in the 900-series for the first time and has a
nominal engine speed of 1,700rpm. During idle running, the
engine speed is only 650rpm.
The Fendt 900 Vario reaches a top speed of 60km/h at a
fuel-saving 1,450rpm, 50km/h at 1,200rpm, and at 40km/h
the engine speed is just 950rpm. The maximum torque of
up to 1,970Nm is just 1,100rpm on the top-end model Fendt
942 Vario.
TECHNOLOGY
As ever, with the fast pace of new technology, the new 900
series has Fendt Connect, which is the central telemetry system
for analysing and managing machine use. Also, the new 900
series offers Fendt Grip Assistant for the first time.
To bring the power to the ground, transfer traction and increase
the footprint, a new large tyre has been specially developed
for the new 900-series, with a maximum diameter of 2.20m
(750/70R44).
