What is wood?
Wood – at least aswe’re talkin g aboutit- doesn’t grow on trees. Although they’re
quite similar looking to wood blocks, tree
trunks in Minecraft are actually made of
logs. So how do you get wood, andwhat’s
the diff erence?
Well, where logs have barktextures on
four sides andtree rings ontheir two ends,
wood blocks have the same barktexture
on all six sides. Like logs and leaves, wood
blocks come in six variants, depending on
the species of tree they’re takenfrom: oak,
spruce,birch, jungle , acacia and darkoak.
Where to find wood
You can make three wood blocks by
crafting together anyfour logs of the same
kind. They HAVEto be the same species,
though, otherwise you won’t get anything.
Wood blocks don’t generate an ywhere in
the game of their own ac cord, butif you (or
another player!) has placed them, they
can be broken most quickly using an
axe. With just your hand, it takes three
seconds to mine a wood block, and with
the fastest tool – a golden axe – it takes
0.25 seconds.
Crafting is the only way to get wood
blocks – they can’t be traded for, found
in ch ests or caught as treasure. There
is, ho wever, one type of wood that can
be found...wood!
