BLOCK OF THE MONTH

Stripped Wood
A variantof wood is called stripped
wood, andit too has the sametexture
on all six sides, though in this case it’s a
bark-free wood texture. As with wood,
it comesin six colours/species, three of
which DOgenerate in the Overworld as
part of structures in plai ns villages (oak),
savanna villages (acacia) andsnowy tundra
villages (acacia).
You can alsocraft it yourself:
if you use the axe’s
alternate function
on a log (e.g. a right
click rather than a
left click on the Java
Edition), the bark
willbe strippedfrom
the target, turning
it into a stripped
log, which has no
bark texture but
tree rings at either
end.You can then
craft four of these
together to make
three stripped
wood blocks.

How to use wood

Stripped logs in a tree

Campfi res are
madeof wood

As well as being useful for decorative
purposes, wood and strippedwood blocks
can be used in a lot of diff erentways,
sometimes in the samerecipes aslogs.
They can be crafted directly into four wood
plankslike a log can. Combined with three
sticks andcoal or charcoal, three wood or
strippedwood blocks can make a campfi re.
And four wood or strippedwood blocks
surrounding afurnacewillmake a smoker,
which you can use to cook food more quickly.
If smelted, wood and strippedwood
willturn into charcoal. If used as fuel
for smelting, they can smelt
1.5 items.
