The BIGGEST killer
A study recently presented at the European Congress on
Obesity in Glasgow claimed two-thirds of obese patients
wanted to discuss their weight with their doctor, but would,
on average, wait six years to do so. It further concluded about
70 per cent of healthcare professionals didn’t initiate a weight
loss conversation with their patient, as they thought the
patient was not interested, but in reality, only 7 per cent of
them weren’t. Another reason professionals didn’t discuss
it was for fear of embarrassing or upsetting the patient. And
81 per cent of patients didn’t raise it themselves as they felt
weight loss was their own responsibility. If you have concerns
about weight, don’t disregard them. Start the convo today!WOULD YOU BRING IT UP?

People with type 2 are at a higher
risk of developing liver disease- such as non-alcoholic fatty liver
disease – with many patients
being diagnosed at late, advanced
stages. Researchers from the
Queen Mary University of London
and the University of Glasgow
studied 18 million people in
Europe and called for closer
monitoring of people with
diabetes to prevent liver disease.

a balanced diet is important for a healthy life.
