an option would have been
nice. The etched parts are
typical of Eduard, the belts
and instrument panel being
essential in such a visible
interior, although as always,
the colour is a bit fragile and
needs care when bending
the parts so that it
doesn’t spall of.
Construction
looks
straightforward
and trouble-free, and
there are ive interesting
schemes provided in the
kit, and these are KG+EM
SonderKommando Blaich,
Libya 1942 – RLM 79 and RLM
80 over RLM 76, WL+IQBR
France 1940 – RLM 24 (blue)
over RLM 65, snake motif,
WL+IAWI Germany 1939 – RLM
61/62/63 over RLM 65, BK+ZS

Hungary 1942 – RLM 74/75/76
‘ighter scheme’ overlaid with
white winter camoulage,
and NF+MS Eastern Front
1942 – White (patchy) over
RLM 65. To add some inesse
to the kit parts, the Aires
separate tail surfaces set was
also available, and having
trawled the Eduard website
for potential Brassin add-ons,
I could only come up with a
wooden propeller to replace the
later metal prop and spinner
supplied, which is only relevant
to the SonderKommando
scheme ofered.
Construction began typically
with the cockpit, with an

immediate decision on whether
to it the four seats or use the
range-extending auxiliary
tanks in place of one of the
rear seats. I chose this option
because the yellow colour of
the tanks would cheer up the
interior. There are etched belts
for all four places, the centre
console and some detail for the
sidewalls and I particularly
liked the realistic attachment
of the front seat shoulder belts
to the structural beam behind
the seats. Before assembly, the
loor, sidewalls and
rear bulkhead
were painted a
combination of

Mr Hobby H70 (RLM 02) and
H61 greys, the seats Vallejo
Leather Brown and the tanks
H413 Yellow. The tanks come in
two halves with moulded-on
securing straps, and typically,
by the time they’re glued and
sanded, they’re distinctly oval.
I bit the bullet and sanded of
the moulded-on straps and
replaced them with much more
in-scale lead foil and a iller
neck from a tube. With the
tanks and seats in place, the
rest of the cockpit assembles
neatly, and I gave it a thin
brown oil wash to bring out
the detail. The Argus engine,
