Scale Aviation Modeller International – April 2019

(Romina) #1

equally frustrating to use. In
the end I had to glue the thread
to the eyelet and the threaded
brass tube to the eyelet as well,
rather than threading the wire
back through the brass tube.
But I did manage to get the top
wing rigged. For me personally,
there must be a better material
to use. Fixing the two wings
together was always going to
be a challenge notwithstanding
all the thread getting in the
way. After more frustration, the
struts are inally ixed in place.
Now the stress really kicks in,
inishing the rigging. As before
the brass tubing isn’t the ideal
material to use but I eventually

managed to get both of the
wings rigged, I left a couple of
wires that attach to the nose
of until the end. The tail plane
was now glued in place and
the rudder was painted using
Tamiya and Aqueous paint,
rather than using the decal. The
tail skid was then assembled
and painted. All this tail area
was now rigged using the same

Uschi thread. This actually went
well apart from me knocking
the rudder of! The control
surfaces were also itted at this
point. The bombs were selected
from two diferent options,
these were primed and painted
ready for installation. Onto the
inals. The rear gunners Scarf
mount was carefully assembled
using kit supplied etch, painted

and installed. The wheels
then were primed, painted,
weathered, itted and the Brisit
was on her feet for the irst
time. A nervous check to see if
the wings are level.... yeah not
bad! Final little rigging bits
including the two that were left
of the nose. The bombs were
then itted, and the propeller
was added using ‘White Tac’.

CONCLUSION
This Eduard kit is in the
most part quite good indeed.
Yes, in some places the it
can be ‘interesting’ and the
instructions a little vague,
but it does build up into a
ine example of a handsome
Great War machine.
