RESTORED 44’ HUON PINE, 1947 JOHN


ALDEN “OFF-SOUNDINGS” CLASS CUTTER


Registered Australian Ship and Historic 7-time Sydney-Hobart


Race veteran Nell Gwyn was built by Frank Hickman in Hobart


and launched in 1947. She is a rare and unique Classic Yacht


constructed of double diagonal 3/4” thick Huon Pine planks,


both hull and deck. Nell Gwyn underwent a AU$400,000


refurbishment and almost total refit out of water and under


cover between January 2014 and December 2016, including


stripping back to bare timber and external glassing of her


stunningly sound hull. In February 2017 Nell Gwyn


circumnavigated Tasmania and was proudly presented to her


original Home Port of Hobart at the Australian Wooden Boat
