These are the steps to apply:- Identify a recovery anchor point (the beauty with BOG OUT is that you don’t need a
massive tree because it’s essentially acting as a locker and you’re driving yourself out
of most situations). - Attach your tow rope/tree guard/extension to the anchor point, and then attach it to
the BOG OUT strap. - Attach the BOG OUT strap to your wheel in one of two ways: either method one or two
as shown on the bag – and depending on what tyre and rim size you have. - Engage low first gear and go slow (forwards or backwards).
There are two ways to remove a BOG OUT strap from the tyre:- Detach from the anchor point and drive a safe distance from the bog and reverse off
the BOG OUT. Stop when it has been unfurled and untie. - Detach from the anchor point and then pull the BOG OUT strap to the side and slowly
inch forward continuing to pull it to the side. When it becomes free, loop it over the top
of the tyre, untie the BOG OUT and drive off it.

Add the cost of necessary accessories such
as a snatch block, ‘D’ shackles, a short
length of appropriately sized chain, a tree
trunk protector and a shovel, and you’ll be
reaching for another few hundred dollars on
top of this.
Perhaps it’s simply the case that ‘the juice
is not worth the squeeze’.
But, think again. Who of us doesn’t leave
their caravan behind occasionally to head
out for a day of exploring? Whether that’s
to a fishing spot, to see a waterfall or simply
to satisfy human curiosity. Besides, in a
country renowned for its rapid changes in
climatic conditions, it doesn’t take much
to find ourselves up a track and up to our
axles. So the risk of getting bogged is real
— regardless of how much we may think ‘it
won’t happen to us’.
