The other big area of change is around
the transom, where skipper Chris
Averis leads me next. A small 14ft Ribeye
tender lies lengthwise on chocks in the
garage, alongside two Sea-Doo personal
watercraft, Seabobs, inflatable kayaks and
two inflatable Nautibuoy platforms. In
short: lots of toys, but no sight of a boat
capable of getting guests from the boat to
dinner ashore dry and unruffled.
That’s because Gibbs had the transom
of the boat re-engineered to accommodate
the largest tender possible – a 22ft Ribeye
with a 200hp engine – out on the bathing
platform, rather than under cover.
“Garages are always too small even on
130ft to 160ft yachts – plus there’s the
height restriction for deep-V hulls,”
he explains. “I like to get the biggest tender
possibleintothewater–weloweritdown
onafull-beamhydraulicplatform.You
