CONVERT TO 3D
Once that’s done,
go to the Layers panel
(Window > Layers) and
click the Create New
Layer icon. Rename the
new layer ‘pen body’.
Go to the Paths panel
(Window > Paths) then
right-click the path and
pick New 3D Extrusion
From Selected Path.
When prompted, switch
to the 3D workspace.

ROTATE
THE SHAPE
Click Current View
in the 3D panel then
choose Top from the
View dropdown. Next,
click on the ‘pen body’
shape name in the 3D
panel, then go to the
Coordinates icon at the
top of the Properties
panel. In the middle
column, set X: 90,
Y: 0, Z: 0 as shown..

USE THE PEN TOOL
Go to File >
New to make a new
document, then grab
the Pen tool from the
Toolbar. Start dragging
on the canvas to make
a path that’s the shape
of a penknife. (If you
like, you could drop in an
image of a penknife – or
any object you like – and
then trace round it with
the Pen tool.)
