ALTER THE SHAPE
Go to the Mesh
settings in the Properties
panel and change the
extrusion depth to 10.
Next click the Cap icon
in the Properties. Use
the settings to create a
bevel as shown. Grab the
Pen tool again. Plot out
a handle shape for the
piece, then extrude and
style it the same way as
the pen.

MAKE MORE
SHAPES
Use the 3D Eyedropper
to copy the steel material
from the center of the
body over to the pen
tool shape’s materials.
Use the side-on view to
position the two parts
until they match up
neatly with the body.
Repeat the process to
add some other tools
to the penknife.

MERGE AND
POSITION
In the Layers panel,
highlight the top layer
then Cmd/Ctrl-click the
layer below; press Cmd/
Ctrl+E to merge them. In
the 3D panel, highlight
the newly added tool
shape. Rename it, then
go to the Coordinates in
the Properties panel and
set the centre column to
X: 90, Y: 0, Z: 0.
