Here’s a fun efect you can try out
on any portrait you like. By using our
supplied Photoshop Action, you can transform
a portrait into a series of interlinking triangular
shapes for a wonderful lo-f treatment. We’ve
supplied a starting portrait, but why not use
your own? Any close-up portrait will work.
Actions are one of the hidden jewels in
Photoshop. You can use them to record and
then play back any task you like. Our Action
uses the Average flter to even out a part of
the portrait by averaging all the tones within.
All you need to do is plot a triangle with the
Polygonal Lasso tool: the Action does the rest.
Even with the help of Actions, this project
will take some time to complete – but it’s
wonderful to watch the efect gradually take
form. Once you’ve transformed your portrait,
you can take the efect further by adding
colors and background details.
