Create a mask to select and boost the blues in the sky
01
ADD A GRAD
Open your image in Camera
Raw (or Lightroom, which has
a similar toolset), then grab the
Graduated Filter. Set negative
Exposure and Highlights with
the sliders on the right, then
drag in from the top-right corner
of the photo to darken the sky.
Go to the settings on the right,
scroll to the bottom and set
Range Mask to Color.
02
TARGET THE BLUES
Click over the blue sky with the eyedropper to sample the blues, then Shift-click a few
more times to sample other blues. Tweak the Color Range slider until you’re happy. Press Y
to toggle the mask overlay on. If necessary, tick Brush on the right and paint to subtract any
parts of the mask that are covering up the foreground.
