Dorset Goes Vintage
VDub at the Pub 21 – 23 June, Wimbourne
Now in its ninth year, Vdub at the
Pub has grown in scope and scale and
nowadays incorporates a Vintage Festival
celebrating all things retro and well,
..vintage!
Live music is at the heart of the event
and this year features 30 live bands and a
host of DJs spread over three stages. The
Main Stage is in now in a Big Top, whilst
The Vintage Stage is the key venue for
all things vintage - the vintage cycle ride,
vintage bands, cream tea, barn dance ... or sit on straw bales on the banks of the Stour and enjoy
The Riverbank Acoustic Stage. This is also the venue for Saturday night’s film.
Saturday’s Vintage Cycle Ride has become one of the highlights of the show -the ride
is marshalled, gentle, fancy dress and great fun. As well as show and shine over both days, there
are loads of activities to take part in such as Dodgeball, Kids 5 a side, Tug o War, a tough-mudder
Cider Mile Run, kayaking, paddleboarding. There are even hot tubs to ease those aching muscles!
Vdub at the Pub also raises money for charity including the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
Adult weekend tickets are just £39, 12 – 15s £18 and u11s are free.

Yes it’s back! The Old Friends Air-Cooled
Show will be playing host to an eclectic
mix of classic air cooled VWS, organised
simply because of a man’s passion. Back
in 2014 Kirk Nicholls first had the idea
of a grassroots, back to basics show
(or gathering) as at the time there was
nothing happening classic wise much
in the South West. That event was a
resounding success but plans to repeat
it had to be put on hold due to family issues but Kirk and partner Ruby have resurrected the
show for 2019.
Kirk says, “ the formula is the same and we have kept prices right down with £5 entry
fee with under 13’s free. Trade plots are also available at £20 for a 4m x 4m plot. As it is an
“grass root” show anyone who arrives in Aircooled VW will be put into the show and shine
/ display with enough space to set up a picnic or even sell some autojumble for FREE! Some
great raffle prizes and live music all day courtesy Rothfink.
Don’t worry if you don’t have an Aircooler though, we have a designated car park for water
cooled cars / day visitors.
