plan, everything is where it should
be, but note how in other images
people play their part ... but not here
- like a tin of sardines mate! Also
don’t be taken in by the implication
that the meticulously laden fridge
is an extra-cost ‘portable’ item from
the accessory list.
Let’s take a look at a snippet
or two of the text. The opening
paragraph sets the tone: ‘Viking.
So much more than a Volkswagen.
Viking is an entirely new concept in
motor caravan design. Its versatile
use of space, ingenious design and
superb quality sets it apart from all
other Volkswagens. Viking is ahead
of the field - in every field.’ Recover
from that and two paragraphs later
you receive another provocative
blast! ‘As a car or a caravan Viking
is unique. It’s one of the truly great
motor caravans of our time.’
Next let’s head to the ‘Galley’ ...
deep breath please. ‘The Viking
galley is the most revolutionary and
well equipped of any Volkswagen.
Meals on wheels are no longer the
problem they are in other motor
caravans. No Volkswagen ever built
has a galley quite like the one you’ll
find in a Viking ...’ Oh dear! Even
the Viking awning put all others
to shame - ‘The most fabulous side
tent ever made by man’. Aarrgghh ...
What’s it worth? Colourful and
as well presented as this brochure
is, it simply hasn’t got the appeal of
a genuine VW offering ... don’t pay
more than £15!
