estled in a
picturesque valley on
the outskirts of
Toowoomba is a race
track called Echo
Valley. Arguably one
of the toughest yet
most enjoyable tracks in the country,
Echo Valley has a plethora of snaking
turns up and down steep gullies with
dark, rich red soil that ensures
awesome traction and great racing
when the gate drops.
As moto fans crammed into this
illustrious facility for the Mountain
Man Motocross they knew defending
champ Dean Ferris would not be
there to defend his title, having taken
up a deal to race in the U.S. In his
absence a full field of quality riders
was on hand to take on the very
challenging track.
WEATHER
Not even the threat from Cyclone Oma
off the coast and the forecast of heavy
rain was going to stop the event from
going ahead. Thankfully the rain held
off for the weekend, although
conditions were quite windy.
Saturday’s program was chock full
of excitement including Mini Lites;
Pre-75, -78, -85, -90, -95 and Evo;
Sidecars and Women. The
competition in the Mini Lites was
