go through their whole lives

without really exploring their

homeland. It’s a big country

and there is a lot to see and

do. Fortunately there are

motorcycle tour groups that

make it easy to see our

beautiful landscapes.

One of them is Trapp Tours.

Eddy Trapp established Trapp

Tours in 2002, running

motorcycle tours and rentals

out of Byron Bay. Eventually

he expanded to travel further

afi eld to places like the

Simpson Desert and Cape

York. He now also runs 4WD

excursions. Trapp Tours are

adventurous and exciting and

also provide great social

opportunities and means of

meeting new people. The

tours are not extremely

technical, but will provide a

good mental and physical

challenge in some harsh

terrain.

There are plenty of chances

to see some incredible sights

along the way. The Simpson

tours cater for both

motorcycles and 4WDs while

the Cape York trips are for

motorcycles. The tours are

fully catered and all-inclusive.

Trapp Tours has a fl eet of

Suzuki DR-Z400s which are

replaced every 20,000km.

Bike hire is included in the

tour price. If you prefer to

bring your own bike, there

are options for tagalong

tours available.

If your riding days are

behind you, then a 4WD tour

with one of the company’s

Toyota Landcruisers might be

preferable. The support

vehicle is also a Landcruiser

and is equipped with all the

important stuff like fuel,

water, food, tools, satellite

phone and fi shing gear.

There’s a plethora of tours

ranging from six to 12 days.

Different tours cater for

different abilities. One

popular tour is the Simpson

Desert/Finke 12-Day which

coincides with the Finke

Desert Race. The prices are

very affordable and you won’t

regret the incredible

adventures that come with
