Customising

ThroughmytestingatclaysI discovered

thatthegunwasshootingfairlylow,dueto

thelargerdiameterofthebarrelcompared

withthestandardbarrelandlineofsight.

ThestockontheNovaispermanentlyfixed

totheaction,soI cannotaddextrashimsto

compensateforthis.Instead,I optedtoraise

thecombbyaddinga cartridgestockholder.

Thepaddedcheekpieceraisedtheeye-level,

ensuringthatthegunshootstruerwiththe

largerbarreldiameter.I couldalsohave

achievedthisbyaddinga combraisertothe

stock.I preferredthefactthatthecartridge

holderwasquickertoremovewhenthegun

wasinusewiththestandardbarrel,and it

lookedmoreaestheticallypleasing.

I alsoaddedanoldEasyhitBeadI hadlying

aroundtotheendofthebarrel.Asthelineof

sight resembles a scaffolding pole, I found

togoaboutdoingthis.Thefirstwastobuy

a ready-modifiedgun.Thesearetypically

spoketotheteamatS&Gandwasdelighted

tohearthatthe24inbarrelwasperfectfor

thejob.Theyexplainedtheprocess and I had

thegunshippedtothem.

I didn’thavetowaitlonguntilit wasback

withmeandI couldgetoutinthefield.S&G

arrangedfortheguntobereproofed,which

wasthelongestpartoftheprocess due to a

backlog at the proof house.

Triggertime

Thefirstthingthatyoushoulddowithany

newgunisgototheclaygroundfora bit

of trigger time. This was no different, as I

wouldneedonlivequarry.Thegunalso

drewa crowdofothershooters,whowere

amazedatthesounddifferenceandkeen

togiveit a go.I wasgettinga feelforthe

gunbutthoughtthatI couldimprovemy

performance with a few extra features

neededtogetaccustomedtothenewsight

pictureandbalanceofthegunwiththe

additionofthesuppressor.Afterthefirstfew

shots,I wassoonbustingclaysconsistently

and gained the ‘muscle memory ’ that I
