Recovery made during the ‘Beast from the East’


A Princess 30 DS that
got into difficulties at
the end of February
during freezing
conditions was
successfully rescued
by the RNLI.
The institution’s
Tamar all-weather
lifeboat was launched
from RNLI Bembridge
station just after
8:30am on February
28 at the request of
the UK Coastguard in
response to reports of
a 30ft motor boat that
had lost all power and was taking
on water. Assisted by Sandown
& Shanklin Independent Lifeboat,
a salvage pump and two crew
members were transferred to the

London On-Water expands


The 2018 show is bigger and better


The London On-Water show is set to be bigger for 2018, with 25 boats
displayed on the water including craft from Sunseeker, Fairline and Azimut.
Held at St Katharine Docks from the May 10-12, the show encompasses
luxury yachts, motor boats and RIBS,
as well as sailing, river and canal boats.
A new Floating Village will feature
everything from watertoys to charter
holidays and yacht brokers.
Supercars and bikes will be on
display on Marble Quay along with
the trailboat stand and personal water
craft. A big screen will show seminars
and music from the Live Stage.

Bembridge Harbour.
Steve Simmonds,
coxswain at Bembridge
Lifeboat said,
“Conditions were
certainly not very
pleasant and the
swell and strong
north-easterly made for a slow tow.
However, it was very satisfying for
the crew and everyone else involved
that we were able to get the vessel
safely into Portsmouth Harbour.”
