Motor Boat & Yachting – May 2018

(singke) #1
This month’s cover star is getting used to causing a stir wherever it goes.
Not long ago, Galeon was a relatively unknown Polish yard with a sound
but unremarkable range of modestly priced sportsboats and cruisers.
Then it started employing British superyacht designer Tony Castro to
create its latest range of craft while ramping up the size and quality to match.
The results have been astonishing, leading to a range of new boats bristling
with clever features like folding balconies, sliding side windows and foredeck
seating areas. The brochure shots of the 460 Fly skimming across the oily
calm waters of a Norwegian fjord made it look amazing but the question
on everybody’s lips was how well would it cope with the rough and tumble
of the British cruising climate? A wintery sea trial in the choppy waters
off the Needles proved the perfect way to find out – see p50.
