THE LEGACY AWARD

Lang Walker

Lang Walker has owned several superyachts and,
thanks to his dual passions for sailing and creating new
spaces, he’s also played a key role in building them.
With his Kokomo yachts – a 42 metre, a 52 metre and a
58.4 metre – Walker used the same designers, builder
and project manager over a period of 12 years, each
version evolving alongside his sailing career.
He has always pushed the boundaries, from building
a 58.4 metre sloop with a 130 tonne lifting keel, to
commissioning the largest spinnaker in history, as well
as putting the first moulded 3DL sails on a superyacht.
Each of Walker’s yachts has an eicient and
clean aesthetic, and uses space intelligently.
It’s an approach that also translates to
his land-based property work. In
the past 10 years he has developed
more than 240 such projects, with
cutting-edge design and industry-
leading sustainability standards –
and he recently opened a resort,
Kokomo Private Island, in Fiji.
Walker is also a passionate
philanthropist. The Australian
Olympic sailing team and the Youth
Sailing Academy are just two of the charities he
supports and, when building superyachts, he
encourages apprenticeship programmes to teach the
trades to the next generation of yacht builders. In 2015,
Walker was created an Order of Australia Oicer (AO).

VOYAGER’S AWARD

Constance
Length: 60m Owner: Alan Dabbiere Builder: CRN

It’s not just about the longest
cruise – this voyage stands out
for its life-changing experiences.
The Caribbean and Pacific cruise
by the owners of the 60 metre
CRN Constance and their four
young children was supported
by teachers, nannies, a naturalist
and 16 crew. The children
continued regular studies on
board during the eight-month
voyage to the Bahamas, Cuba,
Jamaica, Costa Rica, Galápagos,
French Polynesia, the Cook
Islands and Tonga. They met
local children, discovered new
hobbies in scuba diving, fishing
and photography – and the
eldest daughter even compiled
a log of their experiences that
formed part of the submission
for this enlightening cruise.
