OUT OF THE SHADOWS
Royal Huisman, the Dutch yard famous for graceful sailing superyachts,
is to build a 55m motor yacht. Project Phi is named after the Greek letter
that is the symbol for the “golden ratio”, which the builder describes as
“the formula that governs continuation of dimensions and shapes in
natural proportions throughout the design”. A shadowy rendering has
been released and it suggests an elegant design to match this philosophy.
Exterior design is by Cor D Rover with an interior by Lawson Robb. It
will come in at just under 500GT, use Van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement
XL hull form and is due for a 2021 delivery. royalhuisman.com

Specifications
LOA: 51m
Beam: 9m
Draught: 2.5m
GT: 496
Engines: 2 x MTU 16V 4000 M93L
Max speed: 26 knots

Glass half full
This svelte design wraps much of
the superstructure in glass – and
the section over the helm is one
of the largest pieces of chemically
hardened compound curve glass
ever made in Europe

Outside the box
The main deck master suite
opens on to a balcony – not the
fold-down kind that needs crew
to operate, but a fixed one. Glass
doors slide back at the touch of
a button to connect this cosy
space with the interior

Stairway to heaven
The aluminium structure
of a sinuous, three-deck oval
staircase is masked by a polished,
hand-plaster technique created
by DKT Artworks, and finished
with tempered glass structural
balustrades and a leather handrail

Let’s go outside
The main aft deck
doubles as a winter
garden and outdoor living
room – air-conditioned
or heated for use in all
weather – and connects
to the dining saloon via
sliding glass doors

Designed by Harrison Eidsgaard and built by
Heesen, the fully custom 51m Irisha has been
delivered – and she’s a thrilling bag of tricks. We
pick a few of her stand-out features...
