Coral watch

Seven new Ulysse Nardin Freak timepieces were introduced

this year, and two one-a-kind additions in particular caught our

eye. Named after the famous Western Australia reef, the Freak

Vision Coral Bay (made on demand) features a 45mm platinum

case, rubber-like leather strap and is water resistant to 30m,

making it the perfect companion for cruising and snorkelling. In

one example, pictured, a coral reef motif is created by bonding

thousands of 24kt gold threads. In the other, tiny red corals

are micro-painted on the dial by hand using tiny brushes behind

a magnifying glass: a process that takes 20 hours to complete.
