Leisure Painter — June 2017

(Wang) #1
Daler-Rowney and Jackson’s have many
good ranges for acrylics.
Next month, I will discuss the palettes and
supports available for the acrylic painter.
The series continues in the Summer issue
with a look at different approaches to acrylic
painting, including alla prima, layering,
impastoand glazing. I will conclude the series
in the August issue with a demonstration
painting using some of these techniques. LP

Statue Amidst Forget-me-nots,
Daler-Rowney Cryla on tinted board,
10 x8in. (25.5x20.6cm). I painted this
using the oils technique and the colour
pretty much in tube consistency. The
dark background was a blend of burnt
umber and cobalt blue. The dense white
worked well with the random texture
of the board. There’s more on making
these boards in next month’s article.
