Bath Society of Artists
The annual open exhibition of the
Bath Society of Artists traditionally
attracts up to 1000 entries and this
year has been no exception. The
society was founded in 1904 with
26 members and since then has
attracted many notable painters,
including Walter Sickert, Patrick
Heron, Mary Fedden and Howard
Hodgkin. Open to non-members,
the annual exhibition showcases
the best of the region’s artistic
talent.
The Bath Society of Artists Annual
Open can be seen at the Victoria
Art Gallery in Bath from 20 May

to Poppy Fields
From Port Isaac to Poppy
Fieldsis Annabel Playfair’s
inaugural exhibition at The
Fosse Gallery in Stow on
the Wold, from 11 June to
1 July. Classically trained,
Annabel took time off to
bring up four children and
only started painting full-
time three years ago. The
exhibition will include
around 40 canvases,
mainly painted en plein
air, encompassing the
unpredictable climate of
Devon and Cornwall and
the summer sunshine of
