Samanth Subramanian is a senior reporter at Quartz. He last wrote a feature for the
magazine about two brothers in Sri Lanka who became suicide bombers.

Jody Rosen is a contributing writer for the magazine and the author of ‘‘Two Wheels
Good: The History and Mystery of the Bicycle.’’

Hannah Price is a photographic artist and filmmaker based in Philadelphia, with a focus
on documenting relationships, race politics and misperception.

Jack Hitt is the creator and a co-host of the 2017 Peabody Award-winning podcast
‘‘Uncivil.’’ He last wrote about sting operations to expose celebrity psychics.

Philip Cheung is a photographer based in Los Angeles. He has worked extensively around
the Middle East and documented the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Linda Villarosa is a contributing writer for the magazine, focusing on race and health.
She is an associate professor at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at
CUNY and also teaches at the City College of New York in Harlem. Her cover article on
forced sterilization is adapted from her book, ‘‘Under the Skin: The Hidden Toll of Racism
on American Lives and on the Health of Our Nation,’’ which will be published on June
