April 20: Chairman of China’s NPC Standing Committee, Wu Bangguo, held
talks with the President of the National Assembly of France, Claude Bartolone,
in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
April 21: China and Albania signed theJoint Declaration between the People’s
Republic of China and the Republic of Albania Concerning Deepening
Traditional Friendly Relationsin Beijing.
April 29: The 8th China-EU Business Forum was concluded.
May 14: The two-day 27th China-EU Human Rights Dialogue was held in
Prague, the Capital of the Czech Republic.
May 18: The 5th China-EU Roundtable Meeting was opened in Tianjin, China.
May 20: The 11th China-EU Summit was held in Prague, the Capital of the
Czech Republic. Both sides signed theChina-EU Joint Declaration Concerning
a Clean Energy Center, the China-EU Middle and Small-sized Enterprises
Cooperation Consensus Document, theChina-EU Scientific and Technological
Partnership Program, etc.
June 23: China and the UK signed the memorandum of understanding con-
cerning cooperation in regarding the press and publications in London.
June 30: China and the European Union Chamber of Commerce released a
report on the2009 European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Business
Confidence Survey.
July 6: Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Italian President Giorgio
Napolitano in Rome. After the talks, both leaders attended the signing ceremony
for 8 cooperation agreements.
August 20: China and Serbia signed theJoint Declaration between the People’s
Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia Concerning the Establishment of
a Strategic Partnership, and theEconomic and Technological Cooperation
Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the
Government of the Republic of Serbia Concerning the Field of Infrastructurein
Beijing.
September 9: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Peter Mandelson, the UK’s
First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and
Skills, in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
October 7: Visiting Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping held talks with Belgian
Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy.
October 8: Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping met with the President of the
European Commission, JoséManuel Barroso at the EU headquarters.
October 12: Visiting Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping separately held talks
with German President Koehler and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. During
this visit, the two sides signed 9 bilateral cooperation documents concerning
economics, education, solar power and electromechanics.
October 15: Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping visited Bulgaria and separately
held talks with Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov, Vice-president Angel
Marin and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
October 16: Visiting Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping held talks with
Hungarian President Solyom.
