December 22: The 3rd China-EU High-level Economic and Trade Dialogue was
held in Beijing.

2011

January 4: Chinese Vice-premier Li Keqiang kicked off a three-day official visit
to Spain. During this visit, both sides signed 16 project cooperation documents
concerningfinance, telecommunications, energy, oil and gas, food, etc.
January 6: Chinese Vice-premier Li Keqiang kicked off an official visit to Germany.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks with Li Keqiang on January 7.
January 10: Chinese Vice-premier Li Keqiang met with British Prime Minister
David Cameron in London. Before this meeting, Vice-premier Li Keqiang and
British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg held talks and attended the signing
ceremony for a series of China-UK cooperation documents concerningfinance,
investments, trade, energy, low-carbon cooperation, culture, giant panda pro-
tection research, etc., worth about 4.7 billion USD.
February 23: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and more than 500 Chinese and EU
youth representatives, envoys from embassies of EU countries in China attended
the Year of China-EU Youth Exchange opening ceremony in the Beijing Capital
Museum.
March 1: China and Switzerland signed theAir Transport Agreement between
the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Swiss Federal
Governmentin Beijing.
May 12: The 2nd China-EU High-level Strategic Dialogue was held in
Budapest, the Capital of Hungary—the rotating EU presidency.
May 15: The President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, arrived in
Beijing and kicked off afive-day official visit to China. May 16: Chinese President
Hu Jintao held talks with Herman Van Rompuy in the Great Hall of the People.
May 16: Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping met with leaders of EU political
parties attending the 2nd China-EU Political Party Summit in the Great Hall of
the People, China. May 18: The 2nd China-EU Political Party Summit was held
in Tianjin, which was designed to discuss the current situation and prospects for
China-EU trade and economic cooperation.
June 20: Chinese President Hu Jintao and Ukrainian President Viktor
Yanukovych signed theJoint Declaration between the People’s Republic of
China and the Ukraine Concerning the Establishment and Development of a
Strategic Partnershipin Kiev.
June 24: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao kicked off a visit to Hungary, Germany
and the UK.

held talks and announced that in order to promote mutual investments, the
Chinese side decided to provide Hungary with a special loan fund worth 1
billion EUR (about 11 billion Hong Kong dollars) to use in cooperation projects
