March 13: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao exchanged congratulatory messages
with British Prime Minister David Cameron to celebrate the 40th anniversary of
the establishment of China-UK diplomatic relations.
March 23: The European Commission announced that 52 antidumping measures
against China would be reviewed. March 26: in response to this, the official in
charge of the Treaties and Laws Department of China’s Ministry of Commerce
stated that China welcomed the EU’s move to execute the relevant ruling based on
the WTO dispute settlement mechanism and that China hoped the EU can execute
the relevant ruling as soon as possible, correct its violations of the WTO rules in
antidumping investigations in an all-round way, give just and fair treatment to
Chinese enterprises to boost the healthy development of bilateral trade.
March 25: Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny kicked off a four-day official visit to
China. March 27: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks with Irish Prime
Minister Enda Kenny in the Great Hall of the People. The two sides announced
the establishment of a China-Ireland mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
April 18: The Chinese Academy of Science announced that an innovative drug
made by its Di Ao Group—DiAo Xinxuekang Capsule—was successfully
registered with the EU and launched on the EU market. This was thefirst
Chinese therapeutic drug with proprietary intellectual property rights which
successfully gained access to the EU market and also thefirst botanical drug
which gained market access outside EU member states; this marked thefirst
breakthrough that Chinese therapeutic drugs with proprietary intellectual
property rights gained access to the mainstream markets of developed countries.
April 20: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao kicked off an official visit to Iceland,
Germany, Sweden and Poland.

▲During Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit to Iceland, the two sides signed
several cooperation documents including theFramework Agreement between
the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the
Republic of Iceland Concerning Arctic Cooperation, etc. Both sides also
reached consensus on the acceleration of China-Iceland free trade treaty nego-
tiations in order to become thefirst to establish free trade between China and the
EU in the following year.

April 22: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Hanover, Germany and joined
German Chancellor Angela Merkel to attend German Hannover Messe opening
ceremony during which Premier Wen Jiabao delivered a speech. April 23: the
Sino-GermanBusinessSummitwas openedatHannover Messe Conference Center,
with the participation of Premier Wen Jiabao and Chancellor Angela Merkel.
April 24: Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks with Swedish Prime
Minister John Fredrik Reinfeldt in Stockholm. After the talks, the two sides
released the Framework Document between the People’s Republic of China and
the Kingdom of Sweden Concerning Strengthening Strategic Cooperation in
Sustainable Development. April 25: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Swedish
Prime Minister John Fredrik Reinfeldt attended the Ministerial Talks at the
