April 26: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and leaders of 16 central and eastern
European countries held China-Central and Eastern European Countries
Leaders’ Meeting. The two sides released the Press Communiqué of
China-Central and Eastern European Countries Leaders’Meetingand deter-
minedChina’s Twelve Measures for Promoting Friendly Cooperation with
Central and Eastern European Countries.
April 30: Chinese Vice-premier Li Keqiang kicked off a two-day official visit to
Hungary and held talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
May 2: Chinese Vice-premier Li Keqiang held talks with Belgian Prime
Minister Elio Di Rupo in Brussels. Both leaders attended the signing ceremony
for China-Belgium cooperation in inspection and quarantine, the establishment
of a Mirror Fund.
May 3: Chinese Vice-premier Li Keqiang and Vice-president of the European
Commission Joaquín Almunia attended the EU-China Urbanization Partnership
High-level Conference opening ceremony at Brussels Royal Theatre, where they
delivered speeches. The two sides released theEU-China Joint Declaration of
Urbanization Partnership. Li Keqiang and the President of the European
Commission, JoséManuel Barroso attended the EU-China High-level Energy
Conference and the signing ceremony for joint declarations concerning
EU-China energy security, enhanced EU-China cooperation in electric power
market, etc; both sides announced the establishment of the EU-China
energy-consuming country strategic partnership, which began a new phase of
the EU-China energy cooperation.
May 29: The two-day 3rd China-EU Political Party Summit was held in Brussels.
June 16: Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks with Danish Prime Minister
Helle Thorning-Schmidt in Copenhagen.
June 18: Chinese President Hu Jintao separately met with French President
François Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel when attending the
G20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico.
July 9–10: The two-day 3rd China-EU High-level Strategic Dialogue was held
in Beijing, which was co-chaired by Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, the
EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
and Vice-president of the European Commission Catherine Ashton.
August 30: German Chancellor Angela Merkel kicked off a two-day official visit
to China. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks
and co-chaired the 2nd Sino-German Government Consultation. The two sides
released the Joint Declaration of the 2nd Sino-German Government
Consultation—Forward-looking Sino-German Strategic Partnershipand signed
more than ten cooperation agreements, including theFramework Agreement for
Airbus General Assembly Line Phase II in China,etc. Chinese President Hu
