August 31: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Chancellor Angela Merkel held
discussions with Chinese and German entrepreneurs in Tianjin.
September 6: The European Commission announced the launching of an
antidumping investigation against photovoltaic panels, photovoltaic cells and
other photovoltaic modules imported from China. This was the trade dispute
regarding the largest amount of money in Chinese history.
September 17: Deputy International Trade Representative of China’s Ministry
of Commerce Chong Quan led the delegation of the Chinese Government to the
consultations in Brussels with the Director-General of the EU Directorate
General for Trade with respect to the antidumping investigation launched
against Chinese photovoltaic products by the EU.
September 20: The 15th China-EU Summit was held in Brussels. Both leaders
attended the signing ceremony for relevant China-EU cooperation documents
and released a joint press communiqué.

attended the 8th EU-China Business Summit, in which Premier Wen Jiabao

was held in Beijing.
October 22: China and Latvia signed a memorandum of understanding in Riga
and decided to establish a bilateral investment promotion working group.
October 24: The China-Poland Business Cooperation Forum was held in
Warsaw, the Capital of Poland.
November 16: Chinese President Hu Jintao exchanged congratulatory messages
with Luxembourg's Grand Duke Duc Henri to celebrate the 40th anniversary of
the establishment of China-Luxembourg diplomatic relations.
November 27: Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese
People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the China-Italy Business
Dinner in Rome and delivered a keynote speech there.
▲The European Commission decided to cancel special anti-dumping duties
imposed on lighters imported from China as from December 12.
November 28: China’s National People’s Congress and Cooperation Committee
of the French National Assembly held their 3rd meeting in Paris, France.
