scientific and technological cooperation contracts with the Dutch National
Aerospace Laboratory and the German-Dutch Wind Tunnel respectively.

July 5: Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Jesús Posada Moreno, President
of the Congress of Deputies, the lower house of the Spanish Cortes Generales.
July 6: The China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement was officially signed in
Beijing.
July 18: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang sepa-
rately met with visiting Swiss Confederation President Ueli Maurer in Beijing.
July 27: The European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht announced that
China and the EU had reached an“amicable”solution for the China-EU pho-
tovoltaic trade dispute, and this solution would be submitted to the European
Commission for approval in the near future.
August 3: The European Commission officially announced that it had decided to
accept the price undertaking made by the China Chamber of Commerce for the
Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and Chinese photo-
voltaic enterprises in the case of the antidumping investigation launched against
Chinese photovoltaic products by the EU, and it would be implemented as from
August 6 and valid until the end of 2015.
August 7: The European Commission gave a preliminary ruling concerning the
anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese photovoltaic products. The EU
temporarily would refrain from taking provisional anti-subsidy measures against
Chinese solar products, but would continue the anti-subsidy investigation
against Chinese solar cells and relevant component products.
August 26: The People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia released
a joint declaration for strengthening their strategic partnership.
September 6: Chinese President Xi Jinping met with German Chancellor Angela
Merkel in Saint Petersburg.
September 11: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang separately met with Belgian Prime
Minister Elio Di Rupo, Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, Malta’s Prime
Minister Joseph Muscat and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, all
present at the 2013 Summer Davos Annual Meeting in Dalian.
September 19–22: Chairman of China’s NPC Standing Committee Zhang
Dejiang paid an official friendly visit to Slovakia.
September 23: British Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Edward
Davey kicked off a ten-day visit to China; he is thefirst senior official of the British
Government to visit China following the stalemate in the China-UK relations after
British Prime Minister David Cameron met with the Dalai Lama in May, 2012.
